RNPS held a new training “Persons with Disabilities and How to Interact with Them” for the healthcare clowns

RED NOSES Palestine (RNPS) continues to develop the skills of its team of healthcare clowns even in these challenging times, hoping to be a source of hope for many groups, especially children.

As we believe that laughter is a right for everyone, RNPS held a new training as part of the educational curriculum for our healthcare clowns, entitled: “Persons with Disabilities and How to Interact with Them”.

The training was delivered by Rasha Al-Saadi and Aziza Khaseeb from Jasmine Charitable Society and was attended by our team of healthcare clowns. It covered several important topics, including introduction to Jasmine Charitable Society and its mission, understanding who persons with disabilities are and the different types of disabilities, principles of safe interaction with children with disabilities, and key precautions and professional guidelines when engaging with this group, in addition to showing the importance of community support and changing societal perceptions.

This training aims to equip healthcare clowns with a deeper understanding of the realities faced by persons with disabilities, in preparation for an upcoming artistic workshop that will train a new group of healthcare clowns to work in rehabilitation centres.

This workshop is part of “Humour gives hope: Strengthening the mental health of vulnerable children & adolescents in Palestine through health clowning” project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMASGPK).
