RED NOSES Palestine Delivers a Humour Workshop for JAW Summer Camp’s Facilitators in Jerusalem

Yesterday, the Artistic Director of RED NOSES Palestine(RNPS), Daoud Totah, delivered a specialised humour workshop for facilitators of JAW summer camp in Jerusalem. The workshop was part of the organisation's mission to share its expertise in using humour as a human and educational tool that promotes mental well-being and brings joy to children.

The workshop explored the concept of purposeful humour and its importance in building positive relationships with children. It also highlighted the role of humour in creating a safe and encouraging environment that helps children express themselves and engage with others. In addition, the facilitators took part in interactive activities and practical exercises inspired by the healthcare clowning methodology, focusing on non-verbal communication skills, improvisation, and the use of games and creative tools to foster an atmosphere of fun, trust, and connection.

During the workshop, Totah emphasised that humour is not merely a form of entertainment but an effective tool for enhancing children's psychological and social well-being and helping them cope positively with stress and challenges, particularly in environments where children face difficult or stressful circumstances.

In this context, RED NOSES Palestine (RNPS) is conducting a series of humour workshops for various Palestinian health institutions, as well as students and professionals working in the healthcare field. During this workshop, the participants learned about the importance of using humour in healthcare. It also focused on developing their skills to create an atmosphere of confidence and fun when interacting with children in hospitals, and utilising helpful tools and creative methods to engage with them.

This workshop is part of “Humour gives hope: Strengthening the mental health of vulnerable children & adolescents in Palestine through health clowning” project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMASGPK).
