A song from Zero Distance
A day just like any other. I got myself ready and headed to the hospital to visit the children and spread laughter and joy among them. On my way there, I was extremely happy and excited, especially wondering how the children would react when they saw us.
I arrived at the place, put on the costume of “Doctor Noqta Bint Batta,” and began walking through the hallway, entering several rooms until we reached one known for having a girl struggling with a difficult psychological condition and refusing to interact with anyone. I won’t deny that I felt a bit nervous, especially after repeatedly hearing that I wouldn’t succeed in my mission. But despite that, I was determined to get closer to her, step by step.
Before entering the room, we asked her mother what song the girl liked the most. We entered, and her favorite song was playing:
“And the deer is relaxed… and the sweet people are driving… O sir, O its beauty, what’s with it? A lot of pressure on it.”
She smiled at us, so we moved closer and closer.
Then came the next part:
“Don’t come close to me bit by bit… no, not yet… a little bit.”
The red scarf fell from my hand, so I asked her permission to come a little closer to pick it up, and she actually allowed me.
The song continued:
“I swear by our love… since you came next to me, that’s it, leave me.”
At first, she refused to talk to us, so I pretended that we had finished our visit and were about to leave. When we reached the door, she suddenly called out loudly:
“Doctor Noqta!”
I ran back to her like a duck, and we started all over again, singing together from zero distance:
“nd the deer is relaxed… and the sweet people are driving...”
